Open Road was created to support riders who want more than just a licence — riders who value skill, awareness and responsibility.
We are a motorcycle-focused platform dedicated to structured training, rider awareness and community connection.
Our approach is built on experience, professionalism and a deep respect for motorcycling as both a discipline and a lifestyle.
Every aspect of Open Road is designed to support riders in making better decisions, building real skills and developing confidence that lasts beyond a single course or test.
Open Road Motorcycle was founded by Dermot Coll —
a rider, mentor and trainer with over 30 years of experience.
But his journey didn’t begin on the road alone.
Dermot started his professional career as an engineer and project manager, working in environments where precision, communication and risk management were critical.
Over time, he brought that structured, analytical mindset into his personal passion: motorcycling.
Throughout decades of riding, training and participating in events, he recognised something essential —
true riding skill is not only about control. It’s about awareness.
His background in engineering and risk management shaped a more detailed and disciplined approach to riding.
Not rigid — but intentional.
Not theoretical — but practical.
Training at Open Road Motorcycle is structured, progressive and purpose-driven. Every rider starts somewhere, but where you start matters.
Our pathways are designed to guide riders through clear stages of development, ensuring that confidence grows alongside skill and awareness. Nothing rushed. Nothing improvised. Just steady, intentional progression.
For many riders, IBT is the first real step into motorcycling.
At Open Road Motorcycle, it is not treated as a simple requirement — it is treated as the foundation.
The focus is on entering the road with the right mindset, realistic expectations and a solid understanding of what riding truly involves.
It’s not just about learning controls.
It’s about developing awareness, discipline and respect for the machine.
You can learn to operate a motorcycle.
But learning to ride means understanding space, risk, timing and intention.
At Open Road, awareness is treated as a core skill — not an optional extra.
It’s what keeps riding enjoyable, progressive and sustainable over time.
This mindset is woven into everything we do:
training, guidance, content and community.
If you feel drawn to motorcycling, that feeling matters.
Curiosity, excitement, the pull of the open road — these are signals worth listening to.
Open Road exists to help you take that step with confidence, not hesitation.
Whether you’re just starting or looking to grow beyond where you are now, the right time to begin is when the enthusiasm is alive.
Because passion fades when it’s postponed — and grows when it’s guided.
Open Road is designed for riders who want to develop their skills properly and continuously.
No rush. No shortcuts. No tick-box mentality.
Our approach supports riders through clear pathways, encouraging responsibility, patience and continuous improvement — on real roads, in real conditions.
This is training that respects the journey.
Riding connects people.
Through shared values, experiences and respect for the road, Open Road brings together a community built on trust, learning and mutual support.
Whether through training, events or conversation, this is a space where riders grow together — at their own pace, in their own way.
